Merry Christmas!

Room 14,
It's hard to believe that the year is over! You came to me as energetic,
joyful and clever Year 3s and now you leave as still energetic, still just as joyful and even smarter Year 4s! What a pleasure it has been to teach you this year. It makes me so happy and proud when I reflect on all that we've achieved together this year. You've helped me to become a better teacher, taught me to smile lots and not take life too seriously. Please make sure you come and say hello to me occasionally.

Parents and caregivers,

Thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and for your commitment to making your child's school experience a positive one. I have loved working with you and your child this year!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas break.

Miss B   XxX

Oh, How We've Grown!

Last Day

The last day was filled with mixed emotions for everyone...Happiness to have shared this amazing year together,  excitement for what is to come, tinged with a bit of sadness and nostalgia. We ended the year with a fun photo shoot, just as we did on the first day of school, 2019. The students and I could not believe how much they had grown. Time really does fly!

We hope you enjoy these too,
Miss B xx

Dance Party

We had such a ball at our Year 3 dance party, despite the very hot weather! This is always one of the highlights for me as a teacher, as we celebrate all we have achieved together throughout the year. I was very impressed with both the behaviour and dance moves of the Room 14 students. Melanie and Guy from Humphrey's Dance have done a great job of teaching both the steps and social etiquette of ballroom dancing. A special congratulations to Mehrry for achieving our Class Endeavour Award and Terry who received the Academic Book Prize. Both students are very worthy recipients!

Thanks to all the parents, guardians and extended family who come to join in the fun and also for supplying such yummy food for our class party that followed. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated!

Final Assembly

Congratulations to Terry and Katie who received Year Level Challenge awards at the final whole school assembly. Katie was in the Top 5 Most Improved students in Year 3 and, with a cohort of over 100 students, this is a most impressive effort! Terry was, once again, recognised as one of the Top 5 students in Year 3, receiving a perfect score. Well done to all the students. They have all been working very hard this term towards achieving their learning goals.

Class Party

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Room 14 will be celebrating the end of the year by having a class party on Tuesday, the 17th of December, commencing at 12:00 pm.

It is asked that boys bring a plate of savoury food and that girls bring a plate of sweet food. Please ensure that what your child brings is sufficient for 22 children to eat.

If you are bringing in hot food, I ask that you drop it to school by 11:50, already heated up.

Your child will need to bring recess, but not lunch, as the party food will be their lunch on this day.

I will place a blank list next to the classroom door for the children to record what they will be bringing.

Your assistance with this celebration is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Miss Blechynden (Classroom Teacher)

Dance Party

Our Year 3 Dance Party will be held next Tuesday, December 17, in the school Under Cover Area. It will commence at 10am and run for an hour. Students are encouraged to wear their party clothes for this special event, however, please ensure that these clothes are comfortable and practical to dance in. This will be an opportunity for students to showcase the moves they have been learning in their Humphrey’s Dance lessons this term. Remember to return the yellow permission slip ASAP, so that your child can attend. There are a number of forms still outstanding. If you are requiring tickets, please indicate how many you will need on the yellow form.

Congratulations

In Room 14, we love celebrating the success of our friends. A number of students participated in the ICAS and Australian Mathematics Competitions earlier in the year, receiving their results and certificates last week. Both competitions were extremely challenging and the students should be very proud of their efforts.

It has been pleasing to see a number of students regularly doing quizzes on Literacy Pro. As a class, Room 14 have read over 5 000 000 words and have maintained an 85% pass rate. With two weeks still left of school, we are hoping to read 6 000 000 words by the end of the year! Congratulations to Liam who was presented with a special award for the most improved reading comprehension results. Further congratulations to Noel and Ashton who were awarded their Silver and Bronze awards at the last senior assembly.

Then, of course, there are our Term 4 Merit Award Winners. Congratulations to these students for your hard work over Term 4. We are very proud of you!

Swimming Lessons

The students thoroughly enjoyed swimming lessons in Weeks 7 & 8, especially given the very hot weather. It is important in the summer months that students bring their drink bottle and hat to school each day.

Term 4 Update

The last few weeks have flown by and here we are, nearly at the end of the school year! The students have been working hard to revise and consolidate key concepts learnt throughout the year and I am proud of each of their efforts. With the long holidays ahead, it the perfect opportunity for students to engage in fun, real-life learning opportunities. Ongoing learning in the home environment plays a crucial role in the students’ consolidation and application of concepts learnt in class, such as handling money, telling time and engaging in meaningful conversations. Please encourage your children to read daily and ensure the continuous revision of their times tables. Keeping a holiday diary is a great way for students to recount their daily activities and work on their writing skills. Enjoy the quality time spent together.
