Report Writing Task

Hi Parents,
Today the students were given their Integrated Research Report Task. As this is an assessment piece, they will be completing the research and drafting stages in class, over the next four Big Write sessions. They will be able to work on their final copy at home if they wish, but all information is to be typed or neatly handwritten by the students please and presented on an attractive poster. Card will be supplied by Miss B.

The final poster is due on Friday, Week 6.

Talk Homework News Update

As you are aware, students normally receive Talk Homework on a Tuesday. However, in Weeks 2-5 there will be no talk homework as we study the genre of report writing. The research component will be completed in class during the Wednesday Big Write sentence. Students will then draft and publish their reports using Microsoft Word. If you have this program at home it would be great if the students could practice skills such as typing using the shift key for capitals, adding borders and pictures to their documents and saving their work. Thanks for your cooperation, Miss B

Two heads are better than one...

At Wattle Grove, students are seated in Collaborative Learning Teams. Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures are incorporated into the daily routine to foster teamwork, problem solving and greater student responsibility and accountability of their own learning. This week we used a Continuous Round Table to complete a phonics cloze activity, putting the correct 'squ' word into a sentence. They had to not only complete their role, but explain to their team why they had chosen that word.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to what is going to be a VERY busy Term 3! We have a number of exciting events coming up this term and there is still lots more learning to be done! I have been very pleased at the way the students have conducted themselves over the last few weeks, settling straight back into class routines, being flexible to change and working cooperatively in their Kagan Teams.
