Class Party
As you may be
aware, we will be celebrating the hard work and exemplary behaviour of the
students in Room 12 this year by having a class party on Wednesday the 16th
December at 12:20pm.
It is asked
that boys bring a plate of savoury foods and that girls bring
a plate of sweet foods. Please ensure that what your child brings is
sufficient for 22 children to eat.
Please note
that if you are bringing in hot food, you will need be at school at 12:10pm
with the food already heated up.
Your child will
need to bring recess but not lunch as the party food will be their lunch on
this day.
Next week, I
will be placing a blank list next to the classroom door and once you know what
your child is going to bring for the class party, please write the food next to
their name.
If you have
questions regarding the class party please come and see me.
Your assistance
with this celebration is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Miss B
Science Update
In Science, the students have been learning about heat production. At the Investigation Centre this term, they have been making Lego models of things that use or produce heat. Featured here are some of the fine examples.
Prefixes
In Literacy, we have been learning about morphemes. A morpheme is the smallest unit of meaning in a word. Adding a prefix, changes the meaning of the whole word!
We love listening to the prefix song, which can be found at the link below:

Lost!
Last week, students wrote a narrative around the topic, "Lost." I was blown away by all the creative ideas- from lost teeth, to lost puppies and even a lost city! This weeks featured narrative is by Oliver, who has worked hard to incorporate onomatopoeia, descriptive vocabulary and dialogue into his story.
The Rare Ruby
By Oliver- Year 2
BOOM! The city bank had been robbed. They had stolen the rare ruby! When the heroes came, they punched the robbers and accidentally knocked the ruby.
The ruby landed at the undead graveyard. It was night, so the zombies came and took the ruby. They were as powerful as a herd of bad bulls.
When the heroes arrived at the graveyard, the next day, they started the battle instantly. The Boss Zombie was easy to defeat because it was day, not night.
But they needed to find the ruby. They looked in their underground basement. Just after, they blinked. They said, "Is that really the rare ruby?"
When they got home, they put the ruby in its rightful place but the only thing they worried about was...would the zombies come back for more?

Presentation Night
Hi,
Just a reminder that the Year 2-6 Presentation Night is to be held on Tuesday, December 15th, commencing at 6:30 pm sharp at Camp Wattle Grove. It is expected that the students will remain at the event until its completion, at which point they can be signed out by a parent/guardian.
Students are to arrive in their full costume. They will need to be dropped off to me, as I will be recording the attendance and supervising the children throughout the evening. They are encouraged to bring a small water bottle as dancing can be thirsty work!
The students will also be attending a rehearsal at the location during the day. Students will need to return their signed permission slips and $2 in order to attend.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
