Numero is a card game that has been designed for use by all students to develop their understanding of numeracy concepts and problem solving skills. It is a fun and educational game that can be enjoyed by the whole family. More information available at:

During 2016, Wattle Grove will be implementing Numero as part of the whole school mathematics program, with the aim of participating in the Numero Interschool Challenge, to be held later in the year.
On Tuesday, March 22nd, the school will be holding a Numero Parent Information Session, for parents with students in Year 3-6. This session will outline the advantages of playing Numero. Numero sets will be available for a discounted price of $15, with profits assisting the P & C.
Please return the yellow form (sent home last week) by next Friday, 18th of March, if you wish to attend.
Please note that this is a parent/caregiver only event.
I encourage you to attend this event,

Test Books
Last Friday, your child's Test Book was sent home. It has been great to see so many come back signed, with a constructive comment or goal. However, we are still waiting on a large number to be returned to school. It is vital that these are returned to school by Friday, March 11, as we will continue to add to them over the remainder of the term.
Thanks for your cooperation,
Miss B :)

Assembly Update
Last Thursday, Room 23 went to the first Senior Assembly for 2016. Congratulations to Merit Certificate winners; Chase (absent), Shajin & Thomas on your wonderful achievement. Room 23 also won the Art Award. What a talented bunch!
Wow Writer of the Week
Last week's writing topic "The Hero" was thoroughly enjoyed by the students of Room 23. It was great to read such entertaining narratives about the adventures of some familiar and original superheroes!
The Wow Writer of the Week was Francis, whose story was nominated for his excellent use of dialogue, sophisticated vocabulary and onomatopoeia. Well done, Francis!

The Hero
As the sun rose up, gleaming in the sky, there was a legendary superhero that slept in his lair. Ring! Ring! Ring!
"Hello?" inquired the superhero.
"Help! Help!" yelled a lady. "There's a robber in the city and he's stealing everything!" The superhero gasped.
"Don't worry, I'm on my way."
As the superhero was flying in the air, there were lots of ninjas blocking the way. And with a POW! and a BAM! He defeated them. As the villain robbed everyone's furniture, he didn't realise there was a superhero behind him...The superhero gave him a PUNCH! A BAM! He also gave him a dynamite in the back.
The villain retreated and never came back. The whole town was thrilled that the villain surrendered and it was all thanks to the superhero!
Would he save the day again next time?
Computer Skills
Each Monday, Room 23 have the laptop trolley in our classroom. We are very excited about having this privilege. This term, our goal is to be able to log on to the computer independently and access Studyladder. We have also been learning to use Microsoft Word to publish our writing.
Science Fun
In Science, we did a fun experiment called "Walking Water."
We followed the procedure and made our hypothesis. A lot of us combined our understanding of science and art concepts to predict that the colours in the outer cups and inner cups would mix to make new colours and when checked after the weekend, we were right!
We had fun recording our observations and talking about what might have caused the changes to take place. Thanks Mr Sanderson for sharing this great experiment with Block 3!

The votes are in....
The Room 23 Student Councillors for Semester One are:
Luke & Shayla
Congratulations to both students, who I know are very keen to take on their new role. I'm sure you will both be responsible and respectful representatives for our class.
