Super Writers to the Rescue!

In our VCOP sessions, we have now commenced our narrative unit. This week, we looked at characterisation, around a superhero topic. We created a superhero and then completed a character profile, considering their appearance, superpowers, mission and gadgets. The student then had a go at writing an introductory paragraph, describing their character using colourful vocabulary and powerful verbs. Some of their work is featured below for your enjoyment:

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Fiona. Even though she was a princess, she still was beautiful. She had her birthday a few weeks ago. She was turning eighteen. For her birthday, she got a superhero toy chest. She loved it so much but that was all about to change...

As I woke up, on a sensational morning, I felt very strange. Then, as I stretched, a lazer. ZOOM! In one second, it shot through my ceiling...WOAH!

One bright, sunny day, a super hero named Muscle Man was at the training room, lifting huge boulders. Muscle man had brown wyes ans strong muscles. He worked at Brigh Hill, in an apartment. He liked fighting bad guys. Most of all, he liked to win everything!
