The
children have been enjoying shared reading each day. We have read a fiction
text, ‘Harry McFarr’s Clunker Car’ and a poem, ‘The Blob Fish’. The students
made an ‘Inside, Outside Circle’ to share their predictions about
each text and connect with their own knowledge. We have been focussing on
applying the following reading comprehension strategies; predicting,
connecting, creating images, self-questioning and monitoring.
These
are the wonderful ‘Wow Words’ the children found. They worked in their learning
teams, using the dictionary to find the definitions.
