Easter Hat Parade- By Haziq

On Wednesday, April 1, Wattle Grove had an Easter Hat Parade. The students in Room 12 designed their hats out of newspaper and recycled materials, as an integrated Sustainability/T & E project.

On a sunny, Wednesday, Wattle Grove had an extraordinary Easter Hat Parade. It happened in the morning, after the siren went. There were all the teachers in the school. We went there because it was almost Easter, We had it at the Undercover Area at Wattle Grove.

Firstly, we had to go to the parade. We made two, straight lines. When we got there, there was lots of people. We had to sit where we sat last time, when it was Harmony Day.

Secondly, we had to sit down until our turn. There were some of my cousins there. It went in order- Year 2, Year 3, then Year 4. We were in Year 3. When we walked, I felt nervous.

Thirdly, we did a lap around the square. Some of my cousins waved to me. It was brilliant to show off. It was like a big, huge stadium.

I felt blown away when I got there. My favourite bit was when I got to high five my cousin's hand.

Harmony Day, 2015

On Thursday the 19th of March. we celebrated Harmony Day with our annual Harmony Day Parade. We then had a lovely walk through the Art Installation, organised by the lovely Ms Randall. In the afternoon, we joined up with our Pre-Primary buddies from Miss Nicholson's class to make paper dolls wearing a national costume. We loved researching designs on the internet and in books and using the different fabrics and materials to make clothes for our paper doll. Room 12 then had to give their paper doll a name and personality, reflecting on the interests of a child from a culture different to their own.

Australia

This term, we have been studying Australia. Miss B read us a part of the poem "My Country," by Dorothea Mackellar, describing the Australian country. We then created a "picture in our mind" and drew what we saw. This is called visualisation. We shared with our teams why we think Australia is such a special place to live in.

WELCOME TO ROOM 12

Hi and welcome to Room 12's Blog! Please check here regularly to see what wonderful things we have been doing at school.

To some of you it's welcome back to Room 12 and it's so good to see your smiling faces again. To the new members of Room 12, who've joined us from another class or even another school, I am very excited to meet you!

We have spent the first week getting to know each other a little better. On Friday, we shared 5 "treasures" with our team. Thanks to the wonderful parents for your support in helping the children to prepare these :)

I look forward to working with you  all this year and hope to see you at the Parent Information Night being held in  Room 12 next Tuesday the 17th of February, in Room 12.

End of Year Class Party

On the last Wednesday of school, we had a party to celebrate the exemplary behaviour, commitment and achievements of the students in Room 12. A big thank you to all the parents who brought in all the fabulous food for the occasion. This was very much appreciated.

They have been a wonderful bunch and a pure joy to work with each day. I wish you all the very best next year and hope that you continue to strive for excellence in all you do!
Miss B :)

Room 12's Kitchen Rules!

In preparation for our class party, we followed a procedure to make chocolate truffles....They were very easy to make, using a packet of crushed plain biscuits, a tin of condensed milk and some cocoa. We then had to roll the mixture into balls, cover them in sprinkles and leave them in the fridge overnight to cool. They tasted delicious!
