Welcome back for Term 2. The children are already familiar with routines and it's now expected that they will maintain the high standards that they demonstrated last term.

It is important that the students continue to get to school by 8:30 and are wearing the full school uniform. With the colder weather, please endure that all jackets and jumpers are clearly labelled with your child's name.

The students are also expected to bring their homework folder to school every day so they have somewhere to put notes/work/certificates that they may receive during the day.

Motivation work is marked each Monday and new work distributed. If students are absent or forget, the new motivation work is put in their box, to be glued in the next day. 

Hipster Bunnies

At Wattle Grove, we enjoy learning about the cultural celebrations of our classmates. The students loved making their own unique “Hipster Bunny” for Easter. They used aspects of pattern and symmetry and were very proud of their finished cards. They looked awesome!

ANZAC Day

It was a lovely, fine day for our ANZAC service, which was held on the final Thursday of school. The students demonstrated respect, during the heart felt speeches made by Lieutenant Chapman and Leading Seaman Kissick from the Navy and George Korol from the Kalamunda Returned Services League. The lovely donations of flowers was greatly appreciated, and the wreaths looked most spectacular!

A big thank you to Jo, and all the other parents, who so generously gave their time to arrange the flower wreaths. Ava and Connor did a fantastic job of laying our class wreath with our Kindy buddies. The wreaths were later taken to the Kalamunda War memorial. 

Crazy Hair Day

On the last Wednesday of term, we had a Crazy Hair Day to raise funds for the Cancer Council. There were some VERY crazy hair dos in Room 23 and the generous donations helped our school raise $522.00. Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.

Reading Superstars

As the students in Room 23 know, Miss B LOVES books! It gives me great pleasure to see students excited and interested in stories. Student receive a weekly home reader and are also encouraged to read other books for leisure at home. The school holidays is the perfect time! As an incentive to read regularly, students who complete home reading every night for 5 weeks will receive a book prize that they get to keep!

Joan, Gagan, Saadhana, Alex, Riley and Alyssa all received a book prize this term. Keep up the fantastic effort Room 23!

Congratulations

Congratulations to Riley, Alex & Ava who won a Merit Certificate at the final Senior Assembly for Term 1. A huge congratulations also to Maddi who was the Year Three winner in the P & C Easter colouring in competition. Well done and I can't wait to see what Room 23 will achieve in Term 2!

Day & Night

During Week 9 & 10, we investigated day and night. In their Kagan teams, students were given materials to construct a model, demonstrating the key concepts covered. They then explained the process to their peers. We also looked at some of the differences between what we see in the day time and what we see (or can't see) at night.
