I have recently discovered that it is, in fact, NOT easy being green. Despite recycling being believed to protect the environment, it is an extremely difficult task! Imagine this… You are having a relaxing dinner with your friends, when you finish your bottle of Coke. Do you really want to walk out, just to recycle? Definitely NOT! Recycling is a waste of people’s personal time, the system for recycling is confusing and difficult to understand and often, in public places, there isn't even a bin to put your rubbish in. Besides, will one person recycling really make that much of a difference?
Doesn't everyone know that recycling is a waste of people's personal time? Recycling is a waste of time because it prevents you from enjoying time with your friends. For example, you might have an empty bottle of Coke- you have to go all the way outside and chuck it in the bin. If it is too cold, you won't feel warm anymore and will have missed out on time with your friends. You won't have time to do your favourite things that you enjoy.
Only a fool would think that recycling is extremely easy. It's not! You may get confused with which bin to put your recycling items in. For example, if a young child is told to put rubbish in the recycling bin, they might put it in the regular waste bin. It is too difficult to recycle.
Evidently, there are NO public bins, everywhere I go! This is why it is not easy being green. When I go to the park, I see NO BINS AT ALL! Why would you stay at home in your kitchen sorting out all you rubbish anyway?
In the end, the benefits of recycling do not outweigh the disadvantages. Not only is recycling a waste of people's personal time but the system is also too confusing. Although people say to be green in public places, what can you do when there's no bin to put your rubbish in? If it is too difficult for ME to recycle, chances are it will be too tricky for YOU as well! Even if we do recycle, how is that going to assist with reducing the world's pollution problem? All that's happening is it's going to factories to be remade into more disgraceful, disgusting and unacceptable trash!
Fete
A big thank you for all your help supporting the School Centenary Fete, which was held on Sunday, November 1st.The sun was shining and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The Premier and visitors were most impressed by the wonderful sense of community here at Wattle Grove. The Junior Choir members sung beautifully on the day and should be most proud of the way the conducted themselves. What an honour to be a part of such a momentous occasion!

Cold Write Tomorrow!
Hi Parents,
Just a reminder that tomorrow both the Year 2s and Year 3s will be having a "Cold Write." While there is no talk homework tonight, you may want to discuss the features of a persuasive text with your child and encourage them to think of some positive and negative emotive words they could include within their argument.
Thanks for your ongoing support,
Miss B

History Project
As you will remember, last term, the students completed their history posters on schooling in the olden days. They followed a detailed process of researching using books and the internet, then summarising the important points, using the given headings and finally the typing and presentation of their posters. The standard of work was outstanding and the students should be so proud of their efforts. The students then used the Kagan structure "Carousel Feedback," giving their peers one effective point and improvement point for further reflection.
This week the students presented their History posters to their class mates. The class Speaking and Listening Goal was to try and make eye contact with the audience during the presentation, rather than just reading from the poster. The students have improved their oral language skills over the year and are developing an awareness of the characteristics of an engaging speaker. Francis and Sharon were selected to share their posters with the Year 1's in Room 13, who were most impressed!

We all know that recycling is a waste of people personal time, because people already have busy lives for example I am sorting out my rubbish and my family is having fun! Would it be fair? Not exactly!
Only a medieval knight would think that recycling in easy. Actually, it is so hard to do that some people simply have to give up! For example: It's too hard to tell what objects go in each bin! It's too complicated to figure out which bin to put our rubbish in, so you can't exactly blame us for putting our rubbish in the wrong bin!
I naturally agree that recycling is difficult because often, in public places, there is not a bin to put your rubbish in. This is why it's not easy being green. For example, yesterday, I was smoothly sleeping after school and when I finished my homework I went to the park. I just drank my Mountain Dew. I looked around but couldn't find a bin anywhere! Besides, do you really want to walk to a filthy bin, filled with banana peels and super stinky rubbish?
In the end, the benefits of recycling do not outweigh the disadvantages. Not only is recycling a waste of people's personal time but the system is also too confusing. It's Not Easy Being Green!
Is it easy to be green? What do you think? In Room 12, our latest Big Write topic made us question the difficulties but also the advantages of recycling, to tie in with our sustainability topic. First, we learnt 5 new vocab words and wrote these in our “Wow! Dictionaries.”
Then we critiqued some example texts on the same topic, highlighting the effective and improvement points.
We couldn’t wait to share with our shoulder partner!
We then developed our success criteria.
Next, together with Miss B, we wrote a great introduction, including emotive language and even a rhetorical question.
Each team was then given the task to co-operatively construct one paragraph of the argument, including examples and lots of wow words of course!
The final step was to put all our paragraphs together and read our work aloud, to check it made sense. We then wrote a conclusion as a class.
