Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school for Term 3. The year is flying by! As well as learning new skills across the learning areas, the students have begun training for the School Athletics Carnival, which will be held later this term.

Uniforms:

As the winter weather is upon us, please check that your child’s jackets and hats are clearly labelled with their first and last name.

Attendance:

Wattle Grove has high standards of student attendance. Recently, there have been a number of students arriving after the siren.  Please ensure that your student is at school by 8:30, as this allows them time to get organised for the day and minimises disruptions to the daily learning program. Additionally, it is a requirement that all absences need to be validated with a written note, phone correspondence with administration or via the school blog. Thanks for your cooperation.

Literacy:

·         Punctuation- Capitals, full stops, commas, apostrophes and speech marks.

·         Sentence Structure- Using simple and compound sentences.

·         Homographs and Homophones

·         Spelling Rules

·         Narrative Structure

·         Reading Comprehension Strategies- Inferring, finding the main idea, sequencing and scanning the text for information.

Numeracy:

·         Times tables- 2s, 5s, 10s, 3s, 4s

·         Mental Maths Strategies- Make 10 Strategy

·         Multiplication and division

·         Solving Word Problems Using the Bar Model

·         2D and 3D shapes

·         Counting Money and Change

Science:

·         Chemical Science- Making mixtures, states of matter, properties of materials.

HASS:

·         Continents

·         Oceans

·         States and capital cities

·         Olympics
