Over the last few weeks
we have been looking at chance and probability. The students had a great time
sorting a bag of Skittles into the colour groups and working out the chance of
getting each colour. They have been practising writing this as a fraction of a
whole.
Students then
graphed the data they had collected. I hope all the mums and dads got to share some
of the home probability task too!
We have also begun
out Kung Fu Multiplication Challenge. We
began with the super easy White Belt (1 X table). In order to gain their next
belt, students must complete an oral test with the tables in and out of order,
demonstrating rapid recall. Then, each Friday, they complete a written test,
which must be completed in under 2 minutes. Once students have passed both
components, they move up to the next belt.
