Earth & Space Science

BLAST OFF! We have begun our journey into outer space this week, with a mysterious spinning object making its way into the classroom. We activated our prior knowledge and learnt and explored the meaning of some key vocabulary:
Orbit
Dwarf Planets
Asteroids
Comets

We also learnt a fun rhyme to help us remember the order of the planets. We read the fun story, “Pluto’s Secret” and learnt a lot about the history of space exploration. Did you know that Pluto is no longer identified as a planet? This was only decided by astronomers in 2006. The slides below show some of the key content we have covered so far.
