Learning Journey 2019

In Week 10, Room 14 hosted a special STEM Learning Journey to give family members a glimpse at the daily learning that takes place in the classroom. A big thank you to all the wonderful parents and family members who came along to this event, the children were so excited to have you share in this with them! I am so proud of the work the students put into researching, designing and creating, testing and evaluating their lunchboxes. Just a reminder that test books are due back to school by the end of Week 1. Have a safe and happy holiday break!

Multiplication Masters

Congratulations to the students below who have earnt multiplication belts in the last few weeks. The students are encouraged to practise saying their tables regularly to improve their speed and accuracy. A special mention to Parker and Alya, who are flying along and both working towards their Green Belt.

Awesome Athletes

In Term 3, we have a number of sporting events. Congratulations to Noel, Josh, Kent and Alya, who were selected to participate in the WGPS Cross Country and to all students for your efforts in this years Faction Carnival. The weather was kind and we were fortunate to have a cool, sunny day for our faction carnival this year. The students all tried their best and showed great sportsmanship on the day. Thanks to the P & C for organising our yummy Subway lunches and congratulations to Purple faction, who were victorious yet again!

Fire Safety Incursion

The Year Threes were very lucky to have a visit from the Welshpool Fire Brigade. They spoke about fire hazards in the home and ways these can be avoided. “A metre from the heater” and “Stay low and go, go. Go!” were key messages for ensuring safety. Does your family have a fire emergency plan? The students then got to look inside the fire truck- very exciting!

Book Week

This year we celebrated poetry and rhyme for Book Week, with the students coming dressed as a character from their favourite nursery rhyme or poem. Thanks to all the parents for the amazing costumes. I couldn't believe it when a second Miss B walked in the door!

We had a class poetry recital, which encouraged students to work on their oral speaking skills and showmanship. Congratulations to Noel and Mehrry who were voted by their classmates as our class finalists in the Year Three Poetry Recital; you both did an exceptional job!

A number of students also entered the design a superhero competition and had their art work displayed in the undercover area.

Don't forget- READING IS YOUR SUPERPOWER!

Assembly

On Thursday, 5th of September, Room 14 and 25 hosted the Senior Assembly. We chose the theme of reading to express how much we all love to read at Wattle Grove. Our assembly started with a catchy song called ‘Gotta Keep Reading’ and continued with a variety of short poems throughout. The students added actions and it definitely created an exciting performance. It was fantastic to see how hard the students worked to learn and memorise their speaking roles. Both classes also created book reviews for the WOW writing boards and made large book covers that they wore as their costume on the day.

We would like to extend huge congratulations to all of the students for their fabulous assembly performance! We have been so impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication shown. Your hard work and efforts definitely shone through!
