English Update

In Literacy, the students have been revising learnt concepts. In Reading, we have revisited, predicting, connecting, comparing, monitoring and scanning. In Writing, we have been revising the components of an effective persuasive text and looked and ways we can be more convincing. These include; rhetorical questions, imagery, false statistics, high modality words, emotive language, expert opinion and flattery. They have also had the chance to showcase their speaking and listening skills this week when presenting their Super Scientist topic. We cover appropriate listening/audience protocols daily. I have been so proud of the confidence and enthusiasm with which they have presented. Thanks to the parents for all the support in helping them research and feel prepared. Fantastic job everyone!

Manners Are More Important Than You Think

By Maddison B

Dearest Reader,

Thank you for sitting down, relaxing and learning about manners. Do you think manners are a waste of breath? Well you are wrong! You always have time for manners. You say no one these days has manners, well, manners are reciprocal. You never need to worry that manners are contagious!

You always have time for manners because manners are the key to a better life. You might be busy, but you can always stop and give some manners. You could use manners everyday if you wanted to. You are never too busy for  manners.

Manners are reciprocal. Manners show who you are on the inside. If someone is having trouble go help them and, believe it or not, they will show you manners back. Isn't that revolutionary? If you're the best reader ever, do this. The world will be much better. You can always pass on manners, even through hard times.

Manners are contagious. Manners can spread, even through war. It's like a sickness, but one that you want to pass onto people. Inside you all have the 'sickness.' Manners should never stop spreading.

Do you think manners are a waste of time now? If it's NO, you are right! You always have time for manners. You may say no people have manners, well you are wrong! Manners are reciprocal. Don't worry (you never need to) because...manners are contagious!!!!! USE YOUR MANNERS!

Car is Better Than Bus

By Jaydon

Hey there, do you have a car? Well that's good because, in my opinion, cares are better than a bus. If you don't have a car...hire one! Cars are better than busses because you can go to your destination straight away, there are no germs from any other people and it's dangerous to drive big vehicles like busses.

If you need to go to a destination quickly, a bus is not right for you. Take this example, you are going to have a baby, busses have to go to other destinations, then go to yours. When you have your own car, you can go straight to your destination, straight away.

Have you been asking if a car has germs? Well, no they don't. However, catch a bus and face your death from germs. You wouldn't want to go on a seat that has millions of germs.

You shouldn't go in big vehicles like busses. Imagine you are going over a cliff. God, that would be a nightmare! Cars are small so you can easily see where you are going.

Research shows that cars are definitely better than busses because you can go to your destination right away. there's no germs and cars are less dangerous to drive. So if you don't have a car....YOU MUST BUY AT LEAST ONE CAR THIS VERY SECOND!!!
